No, instead do them together as you are coding you can try improving your speed if you want to be a fast typer, but do not wait until you become fast to start coding

Take a look at this site and practice then you will make progress ratatype.com Here you can learn and practice rules to get habits first then when coding respect the typing rules you feel better after every try.It is not mandatory but it is better than typing the bad way.

Most of the time you'll be thinking rather than typing code. your typing speed will improve as you learn to code. I'm assuming you are not writing code on a phone?

However if two people have the same thinking speed, coding experience and brain power, I would think that the faster typist will be more productive.
