Google Play is easy to sell apps in. Just a one time payment of $25. You could use LibGdx to make Android games. From what I’m aware, it costs a $100 to sell your games on Steam. It takes dedication to create games on Unity and also learn Blender for character and environment design. So, Mobile games and go with Android first in my opinion

Try Unity with C#, or Unreal with C++. They’re only available on the pc, but you can send games out to any platform.

I guess mobile games has a broad market these days, people prefer to be able to play their games anywhere, rather than just at home, of course PC games can be installed and run on laptops for take away, but phone or tablets are more comfortable as they don't require any place to put it on, just my personal opinion : )

It depends. What languages are you looking at? Some of them work for both, some don't. Some programs will even work on both if you make some minor tweaks to account for screen size.
