I can't speak on the future of anything really, because who knows how things will change over the course of just a few years. However, I can tell you that based upon nothing but statistics -right now-, Python has been steadily increasing in its popularity each year lately and I don't see that slowing down any time soon.
The reality is that more and more people are getting interested in all of this stuff, and each new generation is growing up with all of this technology as the "norm" which isn't how it use to be. Python is one of those languages that many people are able to easily pick up because of its simplicity compared to other languages.
Although I don't personally like Python, I can safely say at this moment in time it wouldn't be a waste of your time to learn Python. However, make sure you're always wetting your finger and sticking it in the air so you can feel out the direction the winds of change are taking and adjust your sails when it becomes necessary.
