C and Java are the most popular languages so far, but the reason behind it is veruly different. C is very popular because it's used almost in everything you see around you (cars, robots, atms and what not), since C is really versitile and fast, but C is VERY VERY hard language. There are 6 different standarts for it if im not mistaken. On the other hand Java is very popular, because its really easy to understand and easy to get writing software with it. It has very big library and that helps you to write programs really fast and easy. Thats just my opinion :)
