Probably Python is enough for chemistry. Unless youāre using LAMMPS and want to learn C++ in order to better understand how it works, or something like that.

Have you tried different python libraries? I suggest matplotlib, since as a chemist you may benefit of some good plotting of data from a research of yours, for example.
