M indicates a starting point in the path that you want to draw, in this case it is 0 0. From here a line is drawn to the point 0 100, from here another line to the point 100 100 and then yet another one to the point 100 0 . Z indicates that the point described just before it (100 0) is the last one, and then connects it with the starting point(0 0).
