What qualities should one have to become great at something that they are just beginning to learn?

I say #Curiosity and #Patience to begin with, what else can you add or think will benefit a novice/beginner?

@Noel Lawrence Glad to hear that! Just in case if anyone interested, the quote "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." is from Steve Jobs during the commencement ceremony at Stanford in 2005. šŸ˜‰

choose the right field to become great at. If you are rice, you should not try to become best growing plant in the desert. If you have the shape of a quarterback, skijumping, ballett and marathon champion might be far away. as far away as programming for someone who is not a bit born for it. and dont be patient, be hungry.

@Oma Falk, your quarterback and ballet analogy cracked me up! Lol! What of patience in the sense that one should appreciate the process of getting knowledge bit by bit rather than hoping to do great stuff just a few hours in, not unless your IQ is a whooping 150+?
