Structured Programming is from the 60's. Object Oriented Programming is from the 70's. These concepts haven't been improved or superseded in 40 years so it's not likely to happen. I haven't seen any hint of techniques beyond them during my decades of programming. Even before the terms and concepts made it to the papers or class rooms, programmers were using the techniques because it limited the possibility of bugs. I was coding both techniques prior to learning of them in the 77 to 80 timeframe. My boss and his team in 77 had been doing OOP for 4 years on their projects prior to hiring me. The fact that their projects had the shortest testing phase per line of code in the history of the company put them into the position of teaching and enforcing OOP design to the rest of the project teams.
