Say 👋 to Daily Learning Goals: Announcing Daily Learning Goals on SoloLearn

Today, we’re making daily learning goals available to all our SoloLearn mobile app users. Some of you may have already set some daily learning goals. Now, we are providing everyone access to this feature because setting a learning goal is such an important and effective way for you to achieve what you set out to do.

Why Set Learning Goals?

Goals help us accomplish tasks, at our jobs, for school, or in our personal lives. But why is goal setting so important? When learning a new programming language, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Setting goals is an important way to stay on track, ensure success, and stay motivated while learning something new.

Regularly tracking goals helps you achieve what you set out to do.

In a study of over 250 participants, Professor Gail Matthews of Dominican University found that more than 70 percent of the participants who sent weekly updates to a friend reported

successful goal achievement compared to 35 percent of those who kept their goals to themselves without writing them down. Matthews recruited 267 participants from a wide variety of businesses, organizations, and networking groups throughout the United States and overseas for a study on how goal achievement in the workplace is influenced by writing goals, committing to goal-directed actions, and accountability for those actions. Her findings showed that writing down goals and sharing them with others is critically important to accomplishing them.

Goals keep you motivated.

Learning a new programming language can be daunting because it requires mastering basic concepts and retaining that knowledge as you move on to more advanced topics. Our courses are designed to help you learn at a comfortable pace, and goal setting will help you maintain your motivation and progress. Set a goal for 1, 2, or 3 lessons a day, and then feel good about yourself when you achieve your goal.

Goals help you measure progress.

By setting specific learning goals, you can master a programming course over time. Our bite-sized lesson format allows you to learn whenever you have time and at your own pace. Simply set a daily learning goal by visiting your profile and then divide and conquer! Before you know it, you will have completed your course and be ready to move on to the next one.
