Both has there own significance and working.You can't tell which is better. But there a preview what they can do. Choose what you want to learn first.

Python is easy to use,and powerful. Python's readability makes it a great first programming language — it allows you to think like a programmer and not waste time understanding the mysterious syntax that other programming languages can require.

I will always suggest you to start with Java and then learn Python, but if you ask this question to a Python developer, you might get just opposite answer. I choose python.It is simple and easy.Also I prefer indentations over brackets.
