R or MatLab vs. Python

Hello, I was wondering what is your opinion on environments like matlab or R versus eg. python for data processing and mathematical applications. Which of these do you think has more pontential for use in science? Do you have any experience in using either/both for such applications? Opinions and input would be appreciated

Research the job market and you will see what employers want. And try to choose the best for you to enjoy your work.

there is no answer for such a question. it depends. if you are independent researcher you can choose any. but you are (or will) will work in a company, university, startup, etc... and they already are stuck to something. and no one can force to change the language which is used. there are a zillion lines of code already, and you will be adding another hundred thousands in a legacy language of you employer.
