How are xp's awarded in html challenges.. Doesn't make sense to me.

A level 7 opponent challenge me and after I lost by 1point. 28xp was deducted 4rm my xp. Bt whenever I win I get only 6xp. B4 the challenge it was stated that winner gets 1xp. can someone pls explain.??
