Issues of learning process and progress

Question

I did a course very unrelated to coding in school but i intend to build and maintain a website. I've done the HTML, CSS and JavaScript tutorials on this app yet I'm far from where I am to be😖.
is there something I'm doing wrong or something I should have done from the beginning?😶

but I don't want to build websites for sale.
I want to build, manage and develop my own website. I've learnt HTML and CSS on this app and finished JavaScript (which I barely understand), the thing is I'm not yet as good as I aim to be. so I need ideas on ways to further understand website design and development so I can be confident in solving problems on my website.
