Text editor highlights the important lines or text during writing of program like idle for python, sublime etc. they work like text editor. Text editor helps user to compare between syntax and normal text.
Word processor does not highlight. It acts normal. you can save program files like in text editor but difficult to compare between syntax and normal text.
