As long as the authors are correctly credited for their work, anyone should be free to copy/modify/ecc any code here. SoloLearn itself encourages us to save the codes in our Code Playground, keeping attention to give appropriate credits to the respective authors, there's nothing to solve... thanks SoloLearn to provide this big library of free and public codes and about you... just remember you learnt to code thanks to people who shared their codes and probably you got your style of coding by them. :)

BTW - I don't think one should be allowed to edit someone else's code and then be asked to "Save" it, rather there should be an option to "copy to my private codes" and only then be allowed to edit. Further such copied codes can be set in such a way that they can never be made public. Of course one can always copy-paste, but at least we'll get accidental ones out of the way 😃

For my codes everyone is free to copy and learn from them that's purpose of putting on public, and i don't see any problem if anyone is using my codes or someone else's code.Someties while copying you can learn something, also SOLOLEARN made this option open for that reason, coz here is learning area....!

1st instead of the Save public option there must be a option to save private by default (i mean no other option like save public. by default it is private but there is a save as public option too in there just a flip of a switch). 2nd it should require more effort to save others code as public. 3rd there should be created a general awareness about it to stop/reduce plagiarise codes. PS: generally it is newbies/unaware users who copy code and save it as public they should be made aware from the start about the rule of no plagiarism.

@Amrit ... If there is a button "This code is plagiarised" and "anyhumanrobot" will be clicking on even it is true/false, SL will be clogged. 17 millions users?

Would it be possible to create SL libraries? Such codes which we can use freely without fear of losing xp's and seriousness?

Maybe I don't know what we're talking about, but by all means, learn whatever you want from other peoples code. You shouldn't just maliciously steal people's code, claim it as your own, and walk forward. However, if you read other peoples code, learn good ways to go about certain things, then use those means of going about things if it's better than what you had been doing. There is a difference between reading someone's code for education purposes versus reading someone's code to claim/use it as your own solely. If we're talking about the Code Playground on SoloLearn, then... stop setting the code to public and/or stop posting code to SoloLearn. I'm not sure why this is even a debate? Unless you guys are simply saying that you want to post to the Code Playground to get your likes/badges/whatever and don't want someone stealing your code. If that's the case, then it still comes back down to the fact that you share your code openly with the world, so what do you really expect to happen? To me personally, always good practice to give credit where it's due. So if you use other people's code, the very least you can do is give them proper credit in the code (usually a comment at the top), at least that's how we use to roll back in the day.

I think Sololearn could however remove the possibility to switch directly to public when saving...

Both maz (and probably, SL) and Nicolay are right. But I'm starting to think that there should be separate resources and contents for pros and no pros here. Or advanced and not advanced users. Clearly both groups complain against each other's customs and needs. Although I might learn from others codes, there's definitely no point for me to read, say, this code https://code.sololearn.com/WE54N7fvQr38/, as I won't understand most of it. (I value the product, though) And pros will never get amused by what a learning coder might do. Having said that, the more of the whole thing you'll use, probably the more credit you should give.

I think Sololearn have to apply a feature that if someone copies the code of anyone and try to publish it , it cannot be published and an error message should come about this code is made already....

@Deepanshu Soni that's not relevant to this post. a tip don't advertise in the Q/A, code comments. remove your advertisement/irrelevant posts( yes other advertising posts too) it will be better for everyone.

Dont think there is anything wrong with copying and improving someones code but its just wrong to copy a full code and claim it

I'm new to all this and I think to copy one's code can't be considered wrong unless to copy and paste it as your work that's a whole other loser( I mean issue). But to practice from that code is harmless.

I) No save option on others codes. ii) Mark code as Favourite option iii) A new option in reporting codes: . This code is plagiarised. iv) Notifying the coder and asking for permission before saving his/her code. v)The Author Notice in the codes should be made ineditable.
