C# and Java are both actually quite flexible. I did some research and C# is not far behind Java with multi-platforms. They are both made up support Server-side programming, more than others languages like C++, C, Pascal (Remember Java and C# are old-ish languages) Java has more tools to help maintain the program, and to make a program quickly and clean. C# may take a little bit longer, but they sure finish the job quicker, because Java is not compiled to machine Language but rather to Java-bytes. It's a trade off both the Programmer and the Company should be willing to take

C# is getting more and more like Java. Maybe in the next years it would become a multiplatform language. Java may loose the ground in Android. But I think it's still more flexible than C#.
