How can we make money by programming online?

I have seen many of the people working online on upwork , odesk and many more platforms but how it works actually how you make a project and sell it online?

So there are many ways for example there are jobs you can get like discord searched some web devs and then if you work for them they have some projects that you can do for them for money of course.
also you can be on your own and make websites for people that dont know how it works a good website is about 6 000$ thats a lot.
and for the last way if you create desctop aplications you can sell them to other people or invite something useful that you upload on your site where users can download it and use it for what they want

ok so then you first need to chose what kind of project it will be then plan it and finally you write the code.
you can sell your code to a company that could find your code useful
