Transition from on language to another

ok so here is soon food for thought, as I got it some languages came from different one's (feel free to contact me). why I'm saying that, I got some (yea not a lot, just two years) in Java and JavaScript and not long ago I took a look at C++, well there are almost the same (different syntax but really similar). so how hard can it be if you're kinda good at one language will you be able to pickup a different one in a shorter period if any (just a practice and a bit of reading and practice)

i started with c# and java and then went over to c++. it seems that i like using c++ more then the other. i am aiming for game programming and fast working programs ;) they are all very similar but all have there own use :)
