How does Node.js compare with PHP and other server-side languages?

I have been working a lot with HTML and JavaScript and have come across many limitations as they are client-side languages. I recently learned about Node.js which seems quite appealing since I am comfortable with JavaScript. Is this a good server-side language, or does it lack in features that PHP or other languages provide?

From the time that I found it I've stoped using PHP.
And it'll be very easy for you because you already know JavaScript.
