Is it sensible to learn Ruby, or is it to unpopular?

I'd like to learn Ruby, but I don't know if it's sensible.

If you wanna make a website similar to that of Twitter...Ruby on Rails is a perfect choice. And for Ruby on Rails, you need to learn Ruby first!
So go for it. ^^

Just because you don't hear about it in blogs and articles nowadays does not mean it's unpopular. Ruby has a huge and robust community and is being developed continuously.
