Before beginning we must analyze the following;
1. The main objective of a functional consultant in ERP is the knowledge of the business.
2. Each ERP tool has different modules or specialized capabilities to fulfill specific tasks (know the tool or platform).
3. An ERP can have as many modules as required by the core of the business, so there may be specialists for each production line within a company and this in turn be reason to have a specialist consultant in each area for example: Functional Consultant Financial, Functional Distribution Consultant, Functional Consultant for Chart of Accounts, etc.
4. In addition, each ERP has a language or base platform on which it is dependent, so each tool is different, if you want to be a Technical Consultant.
I recommend you to follow specializations such as following the courses offered by several ERP development houses, be it SAP, JDEDWARS, OBRAVO, etc.
