Why do span works only for h1 type of heading?

span in h1 gives a blue box around it but in others it won't why?

I can use <span> inside <h1> without the blue box behaviour about which you describe ^^

Your code might have a CSS code for span that's why.
h1 span{}
Like this that's why it is working for h1elem only

No, span tag works with any block elements.
