Whenever we send a request from a browser to the server...
The server can infact send some data back to the browser & that data send to the browser, we can store it in the "cookies"....
Cookies are the temporary file present in your browser, an capable to store information send by the server.....
The cookies can store all kind of data, that is send by the server after processing it, return it back to the browser....
Based on the life length of the cookies, it is of 2 types:
1)Temporary Cookies - This will expire, once
we close the browser.
2) Permanent Cookies - This can be retained for a particular period of time, even after the browser is closed.

cookies are used to store data in users system.
For example when you visit a site sometimes it asks for your preference now that kind of information is only useful to you so it may be stored in your system in the form of cookie.
Cookies are like session but store data in users system rather than on server.
NOTE: In standard practice we should avoid to store sensitive information in cookies.
