Are software professionals likely to face recession?

So.. recently I saw this discussion on a news channel which said that there are projected to be around 1 million job cuts in software industry over the period of 12~18 months in India. what's the ground reality in your country? I am from India and we are seeing some major job cuts by MNC's e.g. Mahindra Tech . Tec.

I can see why that happened in India, since companies out sourced there and everyone tried to get into it for the money but produced sub par results. Programming jobs aren't going anywhere for a long time; even in India. Whats going away is the low quality outsourcing, because many are realizing it's not worth it to pay less to get a worse product.

Well they had many software professionals on the panel and the main reason was of H1B VISA BAN for Indian citizens bringing down the exports~Software. Major Issue thus was , DONALD TRUMP being elected as PRESIDENT.

* AI Disruption and reorganization isn't new. Someone has to work on the equipment. Then: Either the robots stole your job ("their" fault), or you saw it coming / became an engineer to work on the robots (I never fell down, or yeah I did...but I got up again)...with flavors in between. * Menial work If history is any guide, it should collapse down to mostly the people who *really* want people who *really* want to do it (both exist). I don't see this as a problem; people who like what they're doing (it's not "just a job" to them) deliver better results.

Well I do have to agree with you @Ahiri Fox , Quality Products are definitely something Companies want , but Indian Companies and Engineers make some of the best software's for others because yeah its the easiest way to earn money, Not being rude or sentimental about my/your views but I think the major reasons were 1) President Trump coming to power with a national motto ~"BUY AMERICAN, HIRE AMERICAN ". 2) ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE having took a giant leap in previous years making many menial software/it jobs obsolete. But yes there are other reasons such as that you mentioned yourself but that I can say with 100% SURETY , can't be A major issue as I have seen first-hand at the quality of outsourcing done in India.
