[Feedback] Mark answer as best ✓ - a small remark

I noticed that in many threads the really exhaustive, profound and claryfing answers are gaining likes and thankyous from the question authors, but somehow lack to be marked as best. I think that after the recent upgrade, the "Mark As Best" button (✓) is so neatly hidden among the up/downvotes that it is invisible, especially to newcomers to SoloLearn. A feedback to SL then - please either return to thumbsup/thumbsdown so that the tick gets more visibility or think of another pictogram (exclamation mark?)

I'm sorry from now for the bad english, but this thread is interesting! =^= Honestly... I like these upvotes/downvotes like StackOverflow, because the like/unlike were very small and sometimes has been difficult to click on there. If SoloLearn want to copy "Yahoo Answer", when there are not the Best Answers, it should be assigned automatically, but... it is not a good idea, because votes in most cases depends only to followers. Maybe there should be a small "explanation text" under the (✔), something like this: ----------------------- ✔ set as Best Answer ----------------------- Don't forget that many people post their question, take their answer and don't give the Best Answer because they don't care. :)

But it's all about usability. Thumbs up/down did not require explanation, while those tick up/down symbols are not that obvious. To be honest they could as well mean "move up/down". And the Mark As Best is in no way differentiated. The best and obvious for me would be thumbs up for +1 like, no downvote option (or if it has to be there - thumbs down) and an exclamation sign or a &heart; for Mark As Best. That would be in line with a general convention.

I don't think change in icons will help it much. I think most of the people who don't use Sololearn regularly forget to mark answers as BEST because of general awareness. And some of them because of the DON'T CARE attitude. What's the solution i don't know. But yeah atleast awareness can be spread through posts like this. 👍

@Burey, I did that initially. I stop doing it later, it seems odd to like my own Q.. 😅

A.A. This is a common mishap, this feature isn't particularly well visible...

In a dozen comments I've given THE answer, or the best answer, based on up votes and responses. In a follow-up comment I've asked people to use the "check mark" to mark my comment as the answer/best response. In all of those besides one, they up-vote my comment asking to use the check mark INSTEAD of selecting the check mark I asked. One person responded saying that they don't see the check mark. Either the check mark and up/down system is not intuitive enough, or there are differences in the app based on platform.

Should SL disable people's ability to mark their own answers as best?

Follow up, I think the check mark is available ONLY in the complete version of this app. Per the "one user" in my previous post: there are no check mark of best answer in my app..maybe because i use the c++ app..so the features is limited

Sorry for kinda necroing this post. Just leaving some feedback about this. I only noticed the feature today, and only because I got a notification about a answer... said notification somehow isn’t in the in App notifications and only appeared before I open the App. I’ll go back to old posts and check the best answers now but...it really seems it is something most aren’t even aware? Maybe its just me?
