depending on what you want to do

for a page with a login maybe a store and soething a little bit secure -> PHP

for a fast browser multiplayer game like agar.io/slither.io/.... -> Node.js

PHP has being in existence for a long time and very powerful.
Right now, people are moving to Nodejs.
