Quiz to get extra life a scam?

Question

When I run out of lives, there's an option to take a quiz to get an extra life. But after completing it, despite saying I got a life, it still says that I don't have any lives remaining when I select a lesson, and the quiz option for the extra life is gone. Is this a bug or intentional?

I'm asking why the extra life quizzes don't actually give any lives. Does that clarify what I "want to ask"?
