Can I use Python to write MS-DOS programs?

I wanted to test a DOS and chose MS-DOS. I found disks for MS-DOS 6.0. So I think of making apps for it. Can I use Python to write MS-DOS programs?

Never tried, but it should work. You may even think of quasi-compiling them to .exe to run it smoothly in DOS prompt.
