A portfolio basically showcases your best work and allows your recruiter to see your practical application of computer knowledge. It also highlights skills like problem solving, UI design, UX, product design etc. It shows them what you're capable of. Better portfolio = more chances of getting a reputable job!

It is simple without seeing your specialties or qualifications I will not prefer you for the job. So yes it's important.

But I've read on Internet and on dev.to, that it's not important to have a portfolio to have a job as a web developer.

Damian Ponce That's in that case when you want to start your own startup. 99.9% of companies would never give you Job without portfolio. Just saying I am web developer is not enough to get Job.
