Each time before code try to writte down a solution way in short sentences and clear structure. Split big tasks in smaller moduls and solve them step by step writting an algorthm. Then you can check are there functions, which can be used to solve a part. The rest after have to be hard coded.

Just do much more practice. Give yourself some works to do and time. You should solve problems from easy to hard levels. Search for solution ways. Learn new things about them.
After that, you'll see you've improved yourself.
