What should i learn first to learn Data Science python list or Basis Matrix ?

Question

let's say I am a newbie who donno about matrices nor about python lists but have knowledge about all other features of python (variable, datatypes,input, loops, control structures) except (list, tuple, dict) iterables.
If we learn basic Matrix then we will get confused between python matrices indexing right?
because in math indexing starts from 1 and in python matrix (array) indexing starts from 0
in my opinion I think learning basic of python list first is better... and then basic matrix
what you think guys?
