Is api front end or back end
I am now learning the field of front end development. Should I learn api too, i.e. ajax and jaon or not? One of the developers told me that the api is in the back end as I have to have data to navigate in the api

API is Application Programming Interface. It can be back end as well as middle ware, it depends on what it provides software end point or middle ware to provide the gap between front end and back end. DHANANJAY PATEL
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) can be front end or back end. APIs are used with most programming languages, they are not limited to web development only. For a list of web APIs see... https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API Note: AJAX is not an API, it is a set of web development techniques using many web technologies on the client-side to create asynchronous web applications. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_(programming) https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/AJAX JSON is not an API either, it is an open standard file format and data interchange format. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/JSON
APIs are libraries used to develop front end Application program to access backend server by means of protocol and flow of data between front and back end. It's advantage and disadvantage is that it need not to be compiled needs linking with front end Application program accordingly. DHANANJAY PATEL
