Whatever you like, you will need to abide by the programming language or the language comment syntax.
For instance, we can not use
<!-- HTML Style Comment -->
in python and vice versa because python uses the below syntax for comment.
# This is a comment in python.
So, python will not recognise <!-- comment --> as a comment.
