Why is Windows OS referred to as "PC"? Are computers running Macintosh and Linux not a "PC"?

I usually come across this in different tutorials. They'll say 'If your on a "PC", "If you're on a Mac", "If you're on Linux"'. Are others not personal computers?

PC stands for "Personal Computer" it's not an os family as compared to mac and linux:) when we say PC we usually mean Windows os.

PC was the name given by IBM for the machines they made for general public. And in collaboration with Microsoft, PC-DOS was written and implemented in those machines. There onwards, the legacy carried on
