Competitive programming or development?

Does competitive programming help learning web /app development faster? Should I directly learn web development or should I practice competitive programming and then move to learn web development?

Competitive programming will help you improvise your problem solving ability and knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
These will indirectly help you in developing other stuff also. But it is not mendatoy to know competitive programming for web/app development, means there is no harm in directly going for web/app dev if you want.
So ultimately choice is up to you.
