How efficient will an app be if it's purely developed using HTML5 and Phone Gap?

I always thought of learning Android for my mobile apps project but owing to time constraints, unable to do so. Recently I learnt one can leverage his HTML, CSS, and JS skills using Phonegap to develop mobile apps...So, how secured and reliable will such an app be? if so, which website is best to kick-start my passion? Thanks for your suggestion (s).

Some really great apps are made with Cordova/Phone gap. It is understandably slower as a native one, but not as slow as you might think it is. Start by trying out a framework like ionic or onsenui, it will help you to build a nice UI.
