Plugin usually adds additional features to the editor. It may be a visual or a functional addition. Since you have not specified the editor I cannot give you examples.

just a choice of word i guess. vscode use Extension, vim use Plugin, atom use package.. and Emmet available in all of those

✨ Muviee ✨ adding to Taste , Vs code also has "Intellisense" which is just a fancy word for Auto-correct. So it is just one's choice.
