What are the differences between Unix and Unix-Like Operating Systems?

Hi. It is such a bad news that sololearn does not contain a shell course.. But I think it is a great platform to ask questions. I just found out that mac, linux and even android operating system is related to unix. But I actually don't know what it is. Google says it is an operating system but what is ubuntu or android then? I also found that mac is a Unix like operating system which is really confusing me. So, it will be very helpful if someone can brief these all together. Thank you in advance.

UNIX is registered trademark. Operating systems built on the same principles are called Unix-like. Ubuntu is one of the Linux distributions. https://opensource.com/article/18/5/differences-between-linux-and-unix
