Game developpement

Question

Hi, i'm starting to learn programming in Javascript and i'd love to be a game developper in the future. I have a few questions:
Is JavaScript good for game developpement or would it be better to learn a different one in the future?
What would be a good programming software? I have Visual Code Studio currently, but not too big of a fan so far

another good text editor that I use and think it's pretty good is sublime text 3
