Entering a Password and recognizing that backspace has been pushed

Question

Here is a program that converts what the user enters into asterisk (Password privacy), the only problem is that I would like the user to be able to use backspace or delete to remove what they just entered one character at a time.
any help is appreciated (Still relatively new to c so an explanation would be helpful but not necessary)
