What does it really mean to practice coding?

So I sit in front of my screen(phone/ computer). I follow tutorials and learn how to do basic things. If statements, what a variable is, boolean logic, so on. I type everything out I even will do the same project over(muscle memory and all). But the moment I sit down to do my own thing I draw a blank. I just sit there with a blank ide. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but i see beginner tutorials and people typing them out freely from memory. Mind you i consider myself a beginner. I hear just code anything. What is anything? I can read someone else's code and understand what most of it means. But why do I know the things I previously listed but can't do something myself? How many of you have felt this way? Any advice on what helped you?

Sometimes you blank, and I occasionally do. Go back to the course, and review it.

Simply just try more harder to get into the problems. Off course a lot of beginners have the same problem that you currently have. It is very common to have this types of problems when you try to understand coding at beginner level. It takes some times to be a perfect coder. Not everyone is a genius like Einstein or tesla. Try to solve problems don't go outside of your bounds when you are a beginner. Than gradually move into next projects.

The best way to become a consistent programmer is to consistently get your hands dirty on little code projects and grow from there. Coding is not about just reading from this app or interpreting other people's code but by writing out yours while you attract better understanding of the subject.

Take notes. Review, and practice in code editor if you can't remember.

You should try to make a little project. When you get stuck you can go back to the courses and see what you should use to get past the problem. For me this was the way i learned.
