I have an OS related query for laptops.

Question

I have a HP laptop with a pre installed copy of windows 10. Though i find Linux like Ubuntu, Fedora, Clear.... to be a lot faster and efficient.
If i install/replace windows 10 with one of those Linux distros, and run applications like premiere pro using Wine, will performance reduce as compared to windows?
I am sorry if anyone answered such a question before, but please, among those lot i could not find any suitable answers, as my question is not focused towards coding, but other applications.

you can dual boot, keep windows for adobe products. and use Linux for other things. or look for alternatives applications that support Linux natively. Adobe products are not very friendly with wine or crossover, except for some old versions.

yes, it's safe just make a spare partition for it. may be you will have to use grub as default bootloader. I have not checked if something like BCDEdit work on windows 10, it worked for win7 back in the days.
I currently use Clover boot loader because I have a triple boot. Debian + windows + MacOs.

Thanks a lot Simon Chavez, however i have once faced a situation with my previous laptop on which i installed/replaced windows with mint.
Don't remember what exactly happened but every time i turned it on, some grub error came.
Though i think it should be because of some errors i made while partitioning the drive😅
Anyway, i have successfully installed dual boot with ubuntu!

I'd also say I think that since your computer already has windows 10 on it, its registered on your Microsoft account and I think that even if you fully wiped it and installed Linux but then later decided to go back to windows you could without having to repurchase windows 10. Could be wrong though I haven't tried it myself

Is dual boot safe? I mean i have not tried that even once so i am a bit afraid i may ruin my laptop
Actually it once happened with a grub error not letting me to use the system any more, so i just want to be on a safer side.
All i had done till now is use a live USB to try out the OSs, unfortunately they re not persistent...
Maybe you can provide me with a link to install Ubuntu or Fedora dual boot with windows 10.
