Why I win the challenge but get less experience than my opponent?

I've won my last 3 challenges but the result page gets red and my opponent took the most experience points! Why is that like this?

How many points you get doesn't depend on the level, but on the xp each of you has in that specific language.
If you got more weapon xp, you are the 'favorite' and get only a few points. If you're weaker in that language, you are the 'underdog' and get more.
Unfortunately, in the newer versions of the app, you can't easily see the weapon xp anymore.
