What's the best Operating System to downoad for Software Development on one's laptop ?

There are so many types of OSs like Windows, Linux, Ubuntu etc. Which is the best for use as a developer on one's laptop. What are the best features to look for in an OS as a developer

First Linux and Ubuntu are same(Ubuntu is a distro of Linux)
I think Linux or MacOS are the best for developers because of presence of terminal there
But I would recommend Linux as it is free and you can reinstall it whenever you crash it(by mistake) without any expenses.
P.S. there are hundreds of distros of Linux. You can go for any one as Linux is 100% customisable so a perticular distro does not matter
