If the guy or girl had a lower level than you and got ahead anyway, that doesn't necessarily mean you got your butt handed by a noob.
Even senior developers coming here first time will start at level 1.
Don't think about it too much - do the challenges for the fun and the educational value, not for your pride.
All the way to the end from now on!

I experience this a lot (even till now) due to distractions.
Though losing XP to a novice may hurt, you have to let go because losing in a challenge doesn't determine your level of experience or knowledge in coding.
What determines your level of experience is how well you can write codes and solve problems.

You're right. Never tie your pride to your performance in an individual challenge.

I have lost some challenges with people in Level 1.

Once I started a challenge and this guy came and talked to me, could you believe his nerve?! Anyway I finished the conversation and later realised that I lost the challenge 5-1 ! You wouldn't believe my disappointment!! I felt like kicking myself 😢 Why don't people just understand not to disturb someone who just started a challenge? Boo hoo 😢😠
PS: that was not meant to be a serious post.

Challenges are good for us to know how well we are practicing our lessons and tutorials...we should not take it personal or consider it as an ego issue...

This is why you must read the rules of the contest before you apply for it

We all understand very well, don't worry. 😂
But now that you know, you will be able to prevent such a loss in the future.

A challenge is three minutes max, rather one minute.
If you're too busy for that, why do you even start one?!
More likely: You were *behind* in the challenge and thought you'd better stop. 😏
Problem: if time runs out while you're behind, you lose the challenge.
