What is competitive programming? And what is the advantage of competitive programming? How do i start?

Competitive programming is simmilar to normal programming but the only difference is that in competitive coding we have to do the task in given constrains(like time limit,space limit etc)
And the defination itself tells you about the advantage because it helps you to approach a problem more logically and increase your understanding about programming.
