I will also add that python is geared towards more sciencey subjects including things like artificial intelligence and data science.

Javascript is geared towards web developement which as a field is easier to get into without formal technical qualifications, I assume.

Both have great opportunities and it just depends on what tech stack. Programming languages are a tool to get the job done.
