User interface in c++

I have seen many apps which are built in c or c++ language..but so far i have only seen black output screen when program is being executed..So my question is how do these apps provide UI or GUI...Is there any application/software that provides this kinda things?Can you tell some popular apps to create UI and GUI? I know games are made in gaming engines like unreal or unity but what about apps..Are they built with same engines or not?
