I noticed that a ton of people are stealing my trending codes and either adding their name or just making them public. I honestly dont care if someone wants to use my code as a base for their own project, but some of these just changed my name to their name:
My question is: is that allowed?
Gʜ₀ᴢ₇ Sᴇᴄ Im working on something I can add to my codes that will make it difficult to remove my signature from them. It won't be invincible but it will prevent lots of users from trying to show the code is theirs without going through alot of trouble to try and remove my name from it.
I think Sololearn is for learning. That's why your codes are open source. I personally think it's bad to completely steal your code, but learning how your code works and implementing it is not offence to me by any means.
There's no real licence agreement like MIT, GNU GPL, or something like that. Your codes are probably copyleft!
So basically if you worry about not having your codes stolen, just don't put your codes here. Likewise, you don't want share a closed source commercial code here!
Remember that copied codes get caught and they get a tonne of hatred comments and downvotes.
Anyways, I hate plagiarism and I dislike the copied codes ;)
Jayden LeCorps we are always finding these copy cat codes even back in the legacy codes from 2 years ago, codepen codes, and from other sources. Unfortunately the more coders and codes that drop and the harder it is to catch all. The community at large needs to be more vigilant as well as we ourselves have to be more cautious ...
There should be a better way to protect our codes but even MIT licenses are not perfect once the code is displayed public
Shaziya yes it is permitted to save but people abuse the idea to save as to publish it as their work attempting to strip away the validity of the original author's credits and that intent is stealing... especially when there is little attempt at creating something on their own after studying...
Jayden LeCorps most of those people are beginners and prolly don't know bout plagiarism and they must've saved your code cos they fancy it... I've seen many of my codes copied but i'll report only if the person seem not to be a beginner
Personally, I copy/save and learn a ton from you guys, but would never repost code publicly on SoloLearn and pass off as my own. There's nothing for me to gain.
That, as my toddler would say, is a 'ding-dong' thing to do.
There is a safe with one million dollars in it.
This safe is not in a bank or somewhere with guards.
The safe is in a public park.
It has no password and its door is always open.
Our question is:
Is taking people's money and properties allowed with this situation?
If you think it is not allowed so what are passwords created for? what is privacy introduced for?
They are shared in public!!!
I know... I am NOT support unethical acts. You are right in a side. But on the other side blame yourself cuz you shared some your assets in public.(no offence and take it as a friendly conversation.)
It could probably be just someone who just really likes the code and wants to show it off, but they should at least give you credit for the code, if they don't, then the best thing to do would be reporting those people to the moderators of course, plagiarism shouldn't be accepted, not even on open source!!
