Why does SoloLearn Android app need location?

I noticed, that SoloLearn Learn Python app does require permissions to get user's location. Obvious question is: why? Thanks for explaining.

Statistics, as in how many learners do we have from specific countries all around the world to decide which language should we prioritize upon app translation. There has also been word about app functionalities to search for users nearby but has not been implemented yet. Linking to Facebook will also require location information to be sent to the site for FB security reasons.

Statistics? Like "Where our users code most often?" I mean, they offer *exactly* same courses via web browser and location is not required, not even asked for.
Apps should not require permissions they don't need. I am trying to understand the need for location info in coding app.
